Love For Lukulu & Beyond
Here is living proof of what Mother's Milk is doing in Lukulu Zambia. These are babies who were severely mal nourished and most likely would not have made it without the program.
Before Milk Program
This is baby Nalwende at 3 months old and his 12 year old mother. Being a mother was not by choice for this little girl. Nalwende was severely mal nourished and in a comatose state when admitted into the program. His mother was far away from her family and could barely care for herself let alone a baby. She didn't understand the baby's needs. She would feed him once or twice a day tops and if he moved she stoped feeding him and would say "he's okay, he's alive and moving" She was crying for help in the hospital room and the look in her eyes was screaming "scared to death." Our missionaries walked her to the program where Sr. Pat gave her milk, money for nsheema, and took her to the couseling center to help cope with her trauma.
After the Milk Program
This is baby Nalwende just 3 weeks being on the prorgam and double the size of when he was admitted. The body lanugage alone can speak volumes of how the program not only saved a life but empowered another. The mother's body language in the first picture was scared, rejecting of the baby, and utterly lost. In the the "after" picture she takes pride in raising a healthy growing baby, empowering her to create a better life for the both of them. This program is MUCH more than just handing out milk it's cherishing the sanctity of life. Thank you donors!!
